Southwestern Urban Foundation’s purpose is to provide financial support to organizations involved in programs that strengthen families and empower communities.

The Southwestern Urban Foundation started as a nonprofit organization dedicated to Oklahoma City’s African-American and minority communities. Founded in 2002 under the leadership of the Southwestern Urban Development Corporation (SUDC) and granted 501(c)3 tax-exempt status by the Internal Revenue Service, the foundation provides financial support to help solve the needs and problems within these communities. In our 12 years, we’ve provided more than $400,000 in support to 85 organizations, focusing on the areas of education, youth support and family development.

We seek to improve African-American, minority and underserved communities. With assistance from our generous benefactors, we are able to help fund programs and organizations that provide knowledge-based training, community assistance, youth development and family improvement to the areas we serve. We have a variety of programs designed to educate individuals and build communities, and we host events and workshops that encourage our partner organizations’ members in their development and education. In addition, we aim to nurture our relationships with public and private sponsors.

We believe in preserving a culture of pride and diversity, instituting lasting education and values, and empowering underserved communities. Our mission is to empower other community-based organizations to create program initiatives and expand successful programs.
